John Weston

John is Chairman of Acra Controls, a Dublin-based manufacturer of digital data collection systems for flight test instrumentation systems and Insensys PLC, a technology company in optical fibre strain gauging. He is also a non-executive director of Assystem-Brime, the French engineering group, and Synergy Insurance Ltd. He was Chairman of Spirent PLC from 2002 to 2006 and was Chairman of iSOFT PLC, a leading supplier of software applications to the healthcare sectors in the UK and internationally.
Prior to 2002 he spent 32 years in the aerospace and defence industry, concluding as Chief Executive BAE SYSTEMS. John was educated at Kings School Worcester and Trinity Hall Cambridge, where he read engineering.
John is a Vice President of the Royal United Services Institute. He is a director of the German British Forum and a Governor and Council member of the Ditchley Foundation. In addition to his CBE he is also a Commander of the Order of the Pole Star ( Sweden ), and a freeman of the City of London .
He is a passionate skier, a keen photographer, mountain walker and tinkers with computers. He lives with his wife and two children in Surrey .
