learndirect Achievement Awards 2009

The learndirect Achievement Awards were set up to recognise and celebrate the achievements of learndirect learners, their employers and the learndirect centres supporting them.

Throughout summer a series of nine regional heats took place. On 19 October, regional finalists drawn from England, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as finalists from the Army and Navy, gathered in London to find out if they won a much-coveted national learndirect Achievement Award.

Now in their third year the Awards continue to grow in popularity, with more nominations received in 2009 than ever before. Every winner has an inspiring story to tell – of dedication, of overcoming fears and barriers, of hard work and determination or of going that extra mile to support others. Each story is testament to the life-changing effect of learning.
