Veronica Stamp
After leaving school at 16 with no qualifications, Veronica Stamp, 30 from Middlesbrough, was worried about returning to learning. When she was made redundant however, she was forced to start again. After completing an Information Technology Qualification (ITQ) with learndirect, Veronica successfully changed careers, out of a factory and into an office role.
Shaun Drake
Shaun Drake, 42 from Folkestone. From a young age he became full-time carer of his mother. He later cared for both her and his father when they fell ill. As a result, Shaun spent little time at school and left with no qualifications. Then several years ago Shaun was attacked, which caused him serious injuries. Determined to turn his life around Shaun has gained a number of qualifications with learndirect, giving him a fresh start.
What our learners are saying

Having two young children, one of whom has special needs, means that I’ve had to manage my time well and fit my learning in around working and looking after the kids. The flexibility of learndirect has been perfect as I’m able to work from home and learn online on my computer.
Samantha Pilkington

As well as going to the learndirect centre, I was able to learn from home on the internet and I found this really easy to use. If you did have any problems, you could e-mail a tutor and they would get back to you within an hour which was great.
